Data sanitization
Sensitive data — emails, names, phone numbers — gets replaced with stable pseudonyms before reaching the LLM, then rehydrated for the actual tool call. Mapping stays on-prem, encrypted, with 24h TTL. Preserves write-flows that simple redaction would break. Enterprise tier adds custom PII rules (industry-specific profiles, custom regex patterns).
Single sign-on
OpenID Connect with auto user provisioning. Works with Okta, Azure AD, Keycloak, Auth0 — any identity provider your company already uses. No separate user table to maintain. Enterprise tier adds SAML.
Bring your own APIs
Point mcpgate at any OpenAPI spec, pick the endpoints you need, and the gateway generates MCP tools automatically — no code required. Unused endpoints stay out of tool discovery.

What counts as a user?
Anyone who signs in to the gateway via SSO. AI agents don't count as users.
What happens after 5 users on Free?
The gateway keeps working. You'll see a notice that a license is needed. No hard cutoff, no feature lockout.
Is mcpgate fully self-hosted?
Yes. All plans run on your infrastructure. No data flows through mcpgate.de or any third party.
What license is mcpgate under?
Source-available under the Business Source License 1.1. Use it freely for your own operations — no time limit for evaluation. Each release converts to Apache 2.0 after 3 years.
